A group of up to 30 will have the opportunity to visit Chandler & Dunn, an ethical, family farming business with roots dating back over 200 years in Kent. With around 610 hectares covering two farms within three miles of each other, Goldstone Farm at Ash and Perry Farm at Wingham, East Kent, everything they produce is 100% British, supplying high quality fruit, meat and arable produce to national supermarkets, local shops and restaurants – and direct to the public from ‘Goldstone Butchers’. Their three main enterprises are Livestock (including a pedigree Sussex herd), Fruit and Arable, plus Goldstone Butchers.
The Chandler & Dunn approach to farming is simple. They harness modern techniques and technology to traditional, environmentally friendly values and methods. Their carefully monitored, integrated pest management control process uses minimal mineral pesticides.
Attendees will enjoy a presentation by Charlie Dunn, who will give an overview of their methods and activities. The group will take in a walking tour of the top-fruit orchards leading onto the pre-sizer/grader and the farm’s cold storage facilities. Foodies will enjoy a visit to the onsite family butcher and the day will conclude with a special lunch using produce from the farms, before setting off back to London by coach.

The tour begins with breakfast at Maple and King’s in London’s trendy Kings Cross, before moving on to visit some of the more eclectic eateries in vibrant Shoreditch. The day will finish off with a tailored lunch at celebrity chef Cyrus Todiwala’s Café Spice Namaste.
Along the tour, you will meet some of the owners, chefs and key personnel who are helping to shape the UK eating-out industry. With plenty of food to eat throughout the tour, taking breakfast before departure is not recommended!

Claire began her career as Retail Operations Manager of fresh produce at Sainsbury’s, one of the UK’s leading retailers, and has a wealth of experience and knowledge to provide you with a thought-provoking and enjoyable tour of the fresh produce aisles at a cross-section of the UK’s largest food retailers – Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Asda and Waitrose. The diversity of store formats will help you compare key factors from packaging, range, advertising, and availability to customer service, merchandising and quality.
Tour participants will also have the opportunity to check out the new Sushi Gourmet concept at the all-new Sainsbury’s store in Nine Elms. The sushi kiosks are being rolled out within large retail outlets and supermarkets.
Ed Barton, Store Manager of Kings Cross Waitrose store, said: “Waitrose in Kings Cross is a food shop, tapas bar and cookery school complete with an in-store wine bar. The store, located next to Granary Square, comprises a huge 29,000-square-foot supermarket with large-format picture windows allowing activity of the cookery school to be visible from the store. All in a fantastic new regeneration area which is a great environment to visit.”
Attendees will enjoy a take-away breakfast from Grosvenor House and depart at 8am on a dedicated executive coach, returning to the hotel by 3pm. You will receive a detailed, tightly-organised schedule for the day plus headlines on the stores you will be visiting. New Spitalfields Market Opens Its Doors To Lucky Few For The LPS17 Wholesale Market Tour
The London Produce Show and Conference concludes on June 9, 2017, with a series of bespoke tours to key produce locations in London and the south of England. Each tour is hosted by experienced professionals from the relevant sector for your enjoyment.
Wholesale market tour participants will witness first-hand the working environment at New Spitalfields Market, a purpose built wholesale market in Leyton, London, that opened in 1991. Home to well over 100 businesses, the market is the largest revenue-earning fresh produce and flower market in the UK. Spitalfields has a broad base of market tenants and an extensive exotic fruits and vegetable offering.
The agenda includes a tour of the market pavilion, the catering supply buildings area and meetings with leading wholesalers, refreshments for all participants, and an overview of the running and management of the site by the team leaders, Jan and Chris Hutchinson.
