Andy is Head of Food Services at UK retailer Sainsbury’s. He is responsible for the food offering across all of the operator’s 1,400 stores, including the meat, fish and deli counters, the cafés, and both the front-of-store and back-of-store hot and cold take-away propositions.
Starting his career on the Whitbread graduate scheme over 20 years ago, Andy’s career has spanned high-street restaurants with PizzaExpress as its Regional Director; contract hospitality with both the Compass Group and BaxterStorey; and now grocery retail.
Obsessive about customer service, Andy believes passionately in providing a balanced choice, which means he strives to create healthy and inspired options that offer both flavour and value.
Andy himself enjoys the odd ‘sweet treat’, and truly believes in balancing out healthy and nutritious food with the very best in indulgence.
A self-confessed ‘foodie’, Andy believes food should always be fun, with the highest of priorities being placed on provenance, quality and creativity.
