Kevin is the Senior Buying Manager at Ocado, the UK’s online-online grocery retailer. He manages the team that buys poultry, fish, fruit, vegetables and salads, and has buying responsibility for meat.
Kevin started his career at B&Q on a graduate scheme after completing a business course at Brighton Polytechnic. On finishing the scheme and moving into store management, Kevin left B&Q to join, and ultimately manage and own, a newly set-up family business called Rainbows, the purveyors of high quality fruits and vegetables, with a shop in London’s Tower Hill.
After his parents retired, Kevin sold the retail side of the business and moved Rainbows solely into the wholesale sector. His customers included: the London Stock Exchange’s Lloyd’s Register of Shipping, Allen & Overy, McKinsey and Lazard, as well various stock and insurance brokers.
In 1998, Kevin decided to leave the early mornings behind, so closed the business and moved to Marks & Spencer. Two years later, he was approached to join a new business called Last Mile Solutions. More than 18 years later, Kevin is still at that same business that became Ocado.
Initially working in the supply chain, after two years Kevin joined the trading team where he remains. His role at Ocado has evolved significantly over the years, and has involved looking after all fresh areas and some grocery.
