Richard McIntosh is the Assistant Chief Plant Health Officer at the UK’s Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra). He also leads Defra’s Plant Health Risk and Policy Team.

Richard’s roles include facilitating the UK process to identify, assess and manage new and emerging plant health threats, including policy on import threats.

Additionally, Richard represents the UK on the plant health section of the European Union’s (EU) standing committee (SCOPAFF), which develops EU-wide legislation on plant health.
